Mark “Monk” Hubbard | Obituary

Mark “Monk” Hubbard, designer and builder of the Scott Stamnes Memorial Skatepark on Orcas Island passed away June 8th, 2018.

Founder of Grindline, a skatepark design/build firm headquartered in West Seattle, Mark and his team created the Orcas Island skatepark in 2002 and then went on to build over 500 parks worldwide including the largest skatepark in the U.S., as well as other ventures in Israel, Okinawa, and Finland, to name just a few.

He is survived by his wife and three children. Mark was a loving compassionate and extraordinary man, father, husband, artist, dreamer, skater, musician, and spirit.

In celebration of Mark “Monk” Hubbard, his friends and family want everyone around the world who’s been impacted by Mark’s life and work to head to their local skatepark on Friday, June 22 from 8 p.m. until dark to skate, picnic and remember.
