Artist in Residence Rene Deerheart of Vancouver Island will be teaching two one-day workshops at The Living Room. On May 16, the class will be, “Bronze and Clay Jewelry.” On May 23, she will teach “Making Jewelry with Precious Metal Clay.”
She will also teach four morning workshops: on May 31 “Make Your Own Molds, Texture Sheets, and Stamps for Metal Clay,” on June 7 “Charms & Pendants using Metal Clay with Glass & Ceramics,” on June 14 “Making Bells, Cage Beads, and Containers with Metal Clay,” and on June 21 “Putting on the Bling, Setting Gems in Metal Clay.”
Deerheart has been carving wood bowls, panels, salad sets, sculptures, and functional pieces more than 14 years. Her carving designs have been strongly influenced by the Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations cultural imagery.
