The first, “Active Parenting,” for parents of elementary aged children begins tonight.

“Teenagers and the Law” will be a community forum geared to teens and their parents. “Financial Budgeting in Tough Times” for parents of any age children, will be offered during April and May.

The Active Parenting class is a series of 3 workshops offered Feb. 25, March 4 and March at the Orcas School. Presenter, Leota Shaner, guides parents in gaining skills that will help them instill confidence in their children, use nonviolent discipline techniques, and encourage mutual respect.

Designed by psychologist, Dr. Michael H. Popkin, the classes are customized for children of different age groups and promote positive parenting.

Parents and their children are invited to free pre-class suppers in the Middle School Home Economics room and free childcare will be provided in the school library during the class. For more information and to register please contact Moriah Armstrong at 376–1590.
