Clarification:

The Guest Opinion by Steve Hussey in The Islands’ Sounder on March 5 was published in error. It was sent as a personal email to the editor, and several others, from a personal email account. Hussey did not request publication, as it was intended only for personal reading.

Hussey was identified as an island resident and a planner with the Conservation District in order to be consistent with the newspaper’s policy of full disclosure of those writing published opinions. Again, this was done in error by the Sounder and not at the request of Hussey.

The Sounder regrets the misunderstanding.

Senders of emails to the Sounder who do not wish their email to be published should clearly state in the email, “Not for publication.”
