The Orcas Island Artworks will feature mixed media paintings by Jan Rimerman throughout the months of April and May.
Rimerman combines molding and crackle pastes, powdered charcoal and transparent acrylics in multiple layers on canvas to create complex textures that transform and change from different points of observation. Her unique work is influenced by her admiration for Rothko, Pissaro, Monet and Cezanne. “I am constantly studying the masters and rediscovering their secrets,” she said.
Rimerman received training at Willamette University, London University, the University of Washington, and Portland State University. Travels in South America, the British Isles, Europe, Africa and Indonesia have influenced her style. Her work is shown at the Portland Art Museum, the Coos Bay Art Museum, and the Robert Daniel Gallery in Tacoma.
The Artworks is open daily from 10 to 6.
