Whale of a Show: The talent show featuring young Orcas performers returns to the Orcas Center Stage at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $8.

Grant awards: The Orcas Island Community Foundation will announce its annual grant awards at a ceremony in the Madrona Room of the Orcas Center, 3:30 p.m.
Student dance performances: Demonstrations of what students have learned in Orcas Center’s Orcas Arts Education Project. Sharon Harvey’s third grade class from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Ann Ford McGrath’s second grade class from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., Martha Inch’s Montessori class from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. and Lorena Stankevich and Marny Gaylord’s fourth grade class from 2 to 3 p.m. at Orcas Center.
Historical Museum opening day: Visit the museum free of charge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 4 to 5 p.m.: a reception, including food, beverage and music.

Bite of Orcas: Culinary treats under a big tent on the Eastsound Village Green, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A benefit for Wolf Hollow.
Pet Parade: Starts at 11 a.m., will proceed through Eastsound and end in the Village Green. Participants should arrive at the public school by 10 a.m.
Crossroads lecture series: “Crossroads: Ideas for a New Century” will conclude its 2008-09 season at 7:30 p.m. at the Orcas Center with Russ Altman on “Personalized Medicine: Prescribing the Right Drugs Based on Your Genes.”
