The Orcas Island School District has submitted a ballot measure for the November general election. This measure would increase the property tax levy in the district by approximately 28¢ per thousand dollars of assessed value for one year in order to pay for capital improvements to the Nellie Milton Elementary School. The levy will raise $900,000.

Orcas Island residents interested in writing an argument against the measure are asked to contact the County Auditor, Milene Henley, at 360-370-7558 as soon as possible.

Writers favoring the measure have already been appointed.
