The Islands’ Sounder brought home six awards from the Washington Newspaper Association’s Better Newspaper Contest this past weekend.

Sounder staff won second place for “General Excellence” in its circulation group for Washington state.

Editor Colleen Smith Armstrong received three first place awards for her reporting, and staff reporter Meredith Griffith won two first place awards for her writing.
