89-year old Al Englehardtson of Orcas was involved in a car crash near Victorian Valley Road at 6:50 a.m. on Jan. 26, according to OIFD Captain Maxx Jones and Division Chief Patrick Shepler.

Englehardtson, who suffered facial lacerations and possible internal damages, was stabilized and flown to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Bellingham where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit. According to Jones, the man’s late model Honda was traveling toward the ferry landing when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck a truck in front of him. The glancing blow off the truck propelled his vehicle into oncoming traffic where it hit a second vehicle. There were no other injuries.
