The Lady Vikings rolled up their sleeves and went to work on Thursday, March 5, beating Garfield-Palouse 37-30 in their second game during the high school basketball state playoffs being held at the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington.
After losing their first state playoff game on Wednesday, March 4, the Lady Vikings roared back, beating their second opponent in the loser’s bracket. The first quarter the Lady Vikings and the Garfield-Palouse Lady Tigercats tied, 9-9, and then the Lady Vikings pulled ahead 17-11, and while the Lady Tigercats outscored the Lady Vikings by three points in the third quarter, the Orcas team maintained their lead and outscoring their opponent to win 37-30.
Stephanie Shaw was lead scorer for the Lady Vikings, putting up 14 points for the team while Lanie Padbury scored nine points, Anika Thomas scored four, Sydney Harris scored three and April Hofmann, Halley Parnell, and Maddy Smith scored two, while Emily Diepenbrock scored one. The Lady Vikings play again on Friday, March 6, at the Spokane Arena.
