Saturday dawned overcast and grey for Eastsound’s 2011 Summer Solstice Parade, so revelers brought their own radiance.
The parade included a trio of gold-clad gypsy stilt-walkers; a tribe of mysterious persons swathed head to toe in navy blue spandex and wielding wands and jars of glittery goo; a troupe of hand drummers and much, much more to tickle the fancy of sidewalk watchers.
The riotous cavalcade from Odds Hall to the Village Green marked the start of an afternoon of revelry that would have made Pan proud: thrumming rhythms, music-making crowds, and a community celebrating summer’s warmth.
