On Thursday, at Highland Christian, the Orcas golf team beat the Highland Christian golfers 230 to 317 in a nine hole game of golf in the Vikings’ first away game of the season.
“What we do,” said Coach Bobby Olmsted, “is play teams of 6 to 7 guys each. Then we take the lowest scores of the top five players, and that gives us the final score based on individual par.”
Olmsted was pleased. “We did very well; medalist Henry Bredouw scored the lowest score for the day with a 38. He came in 2 over, and it was a very wet day. He played very well. Alan Coe shot 41; Taylor Diepenbock had 44 and Joe Boucher had a 48, Cetacea Stanton played on the boys’ team and Cetacea shot 58. All individuals had good games.” Note: if a boys’ team is short, a girl can round out the team, but a boy cannot round out an underpopulated girls’ team.
The Orcas golf team played the Lopez golf team on Tuesday, March 24, and will play Highland Christian on Thursday, March 26 at the Orcas golf course.
