Summer birds focus of library class

A six-week course called “Intermediate Birding: Summer Birds” will be offered by Kim Middleton at the Orcas Island Public Library starting March 23. To accommodate students’ schedules, the course will have two sections, one meeting on Mondays from 6 to 9 p.m., and the other meeting on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The course will include 5 classroom sessions and one field trip and conclude in April.

The class will focus on the summer birds of Orcas Island and will cover bird migration, species identification, and good places to observe birds.
