Sami Messinger and Caroline Buchanan put together a drive to raise money for purchasing a new car for the Griffin family.
“We are thrilled to report that at last count the community has donated more than $14,000,” said Buchanan.
The fund-raising effort is based at the Olga Store and has exceeded its initial goal to raise the money needed to buy a car suitable for transporting Jordan and his wheelchair. Thanks to several extremely generous donors, including a significant donation from Suzanne Vince, plus many donations of at least $100, this first goal has been met.
Buchanan had the idea of offering one of her limited edition prints as thanks for the generosity of donors willing to contribute at least $100. Messinger, who runs the Olga Store where the prints are displayed, helps donors select their signed limited edition print. She also collects and records the donations.
Although the initial amount has been exceeded, they will continue to offer the prints to anyone who wishes to donate $100 or more. There are many more expenses facing the family as they try to accommodate Jordan’s needs.
As the drive goes into its third week, Annie Forsythe of Waterfront Gallery at 344 Prune Alley is stepping up to meet the need of framing the prints with her own offer: any print brought in will be framed at a reduced price plus Waterfront Gallery will donate $20 per print to the Jordan Griffin fund.
