JP and the OK Rhythm Boys are offering a celebration of local music on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Darvill’s Bookstore. It is also the release of their new CD, “JP and the OK Rhythm Boys Don’t Sing (much).”

The CD features JP Wittman on fiddle, backed by his Rhythm Boys, Gordon Koenig and Anita Orne on guitar and bass. The trio plays a wide range of tunes, from swing to hoe down. They perform standards like “Stardust” and “Summertime,” old favorites like “Faded Love” and “You Belong to Me,” fun medleys including “Whiskey Before Breakfast,” “Golden Slippers,” and much more, all done in the inimitable JP and the OKRB’s style. The band is fronted by JP’s sizzling fiddle, and while they don’t sing, much, they do sing six words, over two of the songs. Like the disc title says, they don’t sing (much).

“Why bother, when you’ve got a fiddle like this?” says the band.

Due to holidays and inclement weather, the discs have not quite made it to the island. The band is cautiously optimistic that they will make it in time for the party.

“And, whether they do or not, come and enjoy some good tunes, snacks, friendship, and great shopping, whichever music you go home with,” says the band.
