Orcas Family Connections and the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program are holding opening ceremony for Eastsound’s new Born Learning Trail, an outdoor interactive early learning trail, on Sunday, June 28 at 1 p.m. at the corner of North Beach and School Road.
Family Connections worked with local Girl Scouts and Terra Firma NW to construct the trail and its series of 10 learning activities. The activities are posted on signs along the walk from Eastsound to the beach at the end of North Beach Road. Similar to a fitness trail, it promotes early childhood development.
Organizers say that the trail will help parents, grandparents and caregivers use everyday to support learning in young children.
Complimentary snow cones will be available on the trail next to the Senior Center after the opening ceremony. For more information, please call the Assistance program at 370-0593 or Family Connections at 298-2456.
