New to the world of honeybees? Hoping to start your own hive? Still have questions after a year or two of experience?
Join islanders for an afternoon class focused on honeybee biology, the colony life cycle, seasonal management, and what you need to begin keeping bees this year. This is a great opportunity to ask a lot of questions and get up to speed before purchasing bees and gathering equipment for this season.
There are two complimentary beekeeping classes coming up this month. The first is being offered by Sarah Joy Palmer tomorrow, Saturday, March 2 at the Coffelts Farm, 1 – 4 p.m. Palmer is a honeybee enthusiast and manages the apiary at Coffelt Farm and the Bullock Permaculture Homestead. The second will be taught by Ernie Schmdt and will be held on Sunday, March 17 at the Westsound Community Hall from 10 – 4 p.m. Look for further announcements coming soon about the second class.
The two classes will cover complimentary information focusing on helping you get prepared for keeping bees this season. If you can take both classes, great! The classes will both also be useful on their own.
