“We faced stiff competition at the North Sound Invitational meet,” said coach Steve Wilbur. “It was a good preview of what the State qualifying meet will be like.”
The boys’ team won the event, beating not only 1B schools from the Olympic Peninsula, but the 2B schools from Seattle. “It was phenomenal,” said coach Wilbur. The girls’ team finished second in the 1B division behind North Sound Christian.
The Lobo boys’ 4 x 100m relay team of Smith, Lasbo, Keaton Farris and Terell Carter broke their recently set school record by shaving off an additional 0.2 seconds to run the event in 46.5 seconds. The same team won the 4 x 400m relay in 3:48.6.
Farris and Smith finished second and third in the 100m run. Farris took a second in the 200m run and Carter finished fourth in the 200m and second in the 400m run. Billy PostvanderBurg netted a second in the 1600m run and Jordan Haber placed second in the 110m high hurdles and third in the 300m intermediate hurdles.
The girls’ relay team of Lisa Vaughn, Erin Wilbur, Rosanna DeGraaf and Ruthie DeGraaf took second place in the 4 x 100m event. Fisher finished second in the 3200m run and Laura Strom placed second in the high jump.
“Nearly everyone set a personal best this week,” said coach Wilbur. “We are hoping to see everyone that placed in an event qualify for the State Championship meet.”
