Coming up in November in the Lobby Gallery at Orcas Center will be a unique display of “Art From Around the World.”
It will include pieces collected by local residents who appreciate original art from around the globe. Members of the Orcas community are invited to share some of their favorite works to be displayed in this encompassing show of indigenous works by native craftsmen.
Any objects, such as sculptures, paintings, prints, graphics, woven fabrics, carvings, wall hangings, masks, jewelry, or unusual articles of clothing will be welcome for inclusion.
Since many local residents have traveled widely, the Orcas Center Visual Arts Committee is hoping that this month-long show will inspire a collection that reflects a world-wide emphasis on different cultural and artistic traditions.
Intake for this upcoming installation is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. An opening reception for public display will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Orcas Center Madrona Room. The show will remain up until Nov. 30.
Those wishing to share any of their collected works, or those having any questions about the show, contact either of the show directors: Andrea Hendrick at 376-7166, or Pat Littlewood at 376-3050.
“We look forward to the privilege of viewing an unusual and unique collection of world-wide art,” say organizers.
