Everyone is urged to come out to the 33rd Annual Orcas Fly-In beginning Saturday, Aug. 5 and ending Sunday, Aug. 7. Sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 937, the event brings together airplanes and pilots from around the west and Canada each year for flying and camaraderie. Airplanes begin arriving Friday about noon and most stay until Sunday morning. Volunteers are needed to be “wing walkers” on Saturday to help park incoming airplanes. Activities include a fly-by the Blackjack squadron from Arlington and military aircraft flown by local pilots. The volunteer firefighters will hold their annual pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7 to 11 a.m. The cost is $7. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be sold on Saturday of the fly-in, along with t-shirts, sweatshirts, and ball caps featuring Tuck Wilson’s Stinson. Frank and Jan Loudin will also have their artwork for sale.

There is no charge to attend the fly-in.

The Orcas Classic Car Club will have classic cars on display at the nearby at the Dog Park on Saturday. No admission charge to see the cars, although they are asking for a donation of canned goods for the Orcas Food Bank.
