March 2

• A Lopez Island firefighter reported a vehicle broken down in the roadway on Center Road. When a a deputy arrived, a tow truck was already on scene removing the hazard at the owner’s request.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of an order violation.

March 3

• Deputies were dispatched to the Eastsound Fire Station in reference to a subject who was not breathing. When deputies arrived the subject was deceased.

• A deputy received an illegal dumping complaint from a Lopez Island resident. The items were left in the 2200 block of Fisherman Bay Road. An effort is being made to locate the owner of the property so that appropriate enforcement action can be taken.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a welfare check. The deputy determined that the person needed medical attention and summoned an aid car.

• A citizen in Friday Harbor reported a vehicle prowl.

• A deputy met with a Lopez resident regarding a suspicious package. It was subsequently determined that the package, which contained a missing juvenile poster, cryptic letter and journal, were mailed to the reporting person as a practical joke.

March 4

• A deputy responded to a Lopez residence after a reporting person stated they heard loud yelling. The deputy located the source of yelling and determined that there was no emergency. The involved person apologized and

stated he was yelling because he was upset with himself.

• An unknown person removed an iPad from an unlocked Eastsound home. It was later left outside the house, and it is unknown who took it at this time.

March 5

• A deputy conducted an early morning traffic stop along Olga Road on Orcas. Further investigation revealed probable cause to believe the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.

• A Lopez resident reported property found in her driveway.

• A reporting party contacted the Sheriff’s Office in reference to a possible order violation. After explaining the situation, it was a harassment situation. The suspect was contacted and advised to not contact the victim.

March 6

• A deputy was dispatched to a non-injury collision in Friday Harbor. The driver was evaluated and released on scene and a collision report was completed.

• Orcas deputies identified a subject who had a suspended driver’s license get into a vehicle at a local business, and take off. Deputies contacted the driver and cited the person for driving with a suspencted license in the third degree.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a single vehicle vs. boulder collision. The owner had left the scene and was located safe at his residence. The vehicle is likely a total loss.

March 7

• It was reported that an Eastsound resident wrote NSF checks to a local business.

• Adeputy in Friday Harbor received a report from a local business of an assault. The reporting party just wanted this documented and no further action was needed.

• A deputy responded to a apparent vandalism and trespassing in Eastsound. A chain link fence had been cut by unknown person(s) and access was made to a private residence.

• Orcas deputies were dispatched to a complaint of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, the person was gone but was said to be with somebody he was believed to be restrained from being with. Ultimately it was determined that the suspect had not violated the conditions of the order.

• A Lopez deputy was called to investigate a dispute between roommates that reportedly got so out of hand that the reporting parties had to climb out a window and flee for their safety.

March 8

• A resident in the area of Cape San Juan reported a female subject causing a disturbance on the grounds outside of her residence. Upon arrival, a deputy observed a mentally ill subject in distress and in need of medical care. She was detained and transported for treatment.

• A deputy in Friday Harbor received a complaint about a dog being at large. The deputy contacted the owner of the dog and gave a warning letter.

• A deputy responded to a Lopez residence for a theft complaint. The reporting person stated several items were taken from her storage shed while she was away.

• A Friday Harbor resident drove her vehicle at a high rate of speed into a construction zone in downtown Friday Harbor. Property damage was done and the suspect vehicle was overturned. The driver was transported to the emergency room.
