It was a close game between the Wolverines and the Vikings on Friday Harbor’s home turf during the softball game on Wednesday, May 18. With the help of Hayden Mayer, who hit two doubles, the Wolverines proved victorious by one point.
The Orcas Vikings had an early lead but by the bottom of the fourth inning it was tied at 3-3. Friday Harbor took the lead 5-3 at the top of the fifth inning. Viking Katelyn Minnis hit a home run over the fence to centerfield, bringing the score to 5-4. The Vikings continued to fight but by the seventh inning, the Wolverines still maintained a lead, 7-6.
The Vikings will play a league-qualifying game off-island on Friday. Their opponent is yet to be determined.
