On Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 8:18 p.m. emergency responders were sent to Carter Ave, Friday Harbor on a report of an all terrain vehicle crash. Responding units began arriving on scene in less than a minute of the call.

The operator, a 52 year old Friday Harbor man, suffered life threatening injuries when the Honda 250 three wheeler was traveling from the Carter Ave Sports Fields and struck a chain across the entrance to the complex. He was flown to a mainland hospital from the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.

Preliminary investigation indicates the ATV was going south on the access road from the sports fields to Carter St at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. The investigation of this crash is continuing.
