Fantastic fish art pieces such as the one pictured above, created by Orcas artists, will be auctioned off at the annual Orcas Island Education Foundation (OIEF) Food for Thought Benefit.

These unique works of art, along with critical student programs and other silent and live auction items, are the “main event” at OIEF’s most important fundraiser occurring on Nov. 20 at Camp Orkila. To get a sneak preview, businesses where fish can be found are Darvill’s, Edna Galleries, the new Chamber of Commerce Office, Crow Valley Pottery, Deer Harbor Post Office, Enzo’s, Jillery’s, Kathryn Taylor Chocolates, Kizmit, the Orcas Hotel, Outlook Inn, the Public Library, Rhapsody, Roses, Ship Bay, Smith & Speed, Sunflower Cafe’ and Tres Fabu.

All proceeds raised go toward supporting the public school. “We wanted to create an event that will be different and unforgettable,” says OIEF board member, Anne Ford McGrath, “and I think we have done it.”

Tickets for the OIEF Food for Thought Auction Benefit may be purchased for $60 per individual or $100 per couple at Darvill’s, the Chamber of Commerce Office and the Public Elementary School Office. The event starts at 6 p.m. Shuttles will be provided from the Orkila parking lot to the Lodge. Child Care is provided through Orcas Recreation Program by calling 376-5339.
