The Lady Vikings continued their winning spree this week, slipping one past the Concrete Lions 53-50 on Feb. 9. The game was an unscheduled tie-breaker to decide which team would advance to Tri District playoffs.
“This was an unusual game in that the scoring was spread out amongst so many of the girls,” said statistics keeper Barbara Thomas.
Bella Nigretto had seven assists, three steals and five points. Makenna Thomas had seven rebounds, three steals and four points. Shelbi Rogers had 12 points and two rebounds. Lana Bronn had three rebounds and four points. Kathryn Tidwell had 12 rebounds and 11 points. Brooke Bruland had a whopping 15 rebounds, 10 points and a couple of steals. April Hofmann had four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Tamara Klein had three rebounds and two points.
The Vikings started strong and were well ahead at half time, 28-19, and although Concrete regained the lead 38-34 to end third quarter, Orcas surged back to seal the win.
The Lady Vikings will play one last regular season game, against Seattle Lutheran on Feb. 11, and if they win they will advance to Tri Districts.
