Novelist to ‘hustle’ at salon

The Artsmith Salon Series continues its writers’ salon and open mic into 2012 at Kangaroo House. The event will feature novelist and writing professor Jason Skipper reading from his novel “Hustle” on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.

The Artsmith Salon Series continues its writers’ salon and open mic into 2012 at Kangaroo House. The event will feature novelist and writing professor Jason Skipper reading from his novel “Hustle” on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.

Visiting Orcas from his home in Tacoma, Skipper grew up in Texas. His work has appeared in numerous journals. He has received grants from the Vermont Studio Center and Artist Trust of Washington. He received his PhD from Western Michigan University where he was fiction editor of “Third Coast.” He teaches creative writing and literature at Pacific Lutheran University.

The event is free and writers of all levels are encouraged to read during the open mic. Attendees are encouraged to bring an appetizer and the beverage of their choice.
