tLegislative Session Kick-Off Meetings and Energy Talk

Orcas Power and Light Cooperative invites all members to attend the annual Ambassador’s Legislative Kick-Off meeting. There are meetings scheduled on Orcas, San Juan and Lopez Islands:

Eastsound: Monday, Oct. 27th, 2 – 4 p.m., OPALCO Office

Friday Harbor: Tuesday, Oct. 28, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., OPALCO Office

Lopez: Tuesday, Oct. 28 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Lopez Library

Representative Jeff Morris will speak on “The Future of Power Supply in the Northwest.” Washington Rural Electric Cooperative Association (WRECA) Director Kent Lopez will give a preview of energy issues that the Washington State Legislature will be addressing, an overview of the national grassroots Our Energy, Our Future campaign that aims to engage elected officials in a dialogue about energy issues, and give us some tips about how to be an effective grassroots activist. There will be a question and answer session with OPALCO Manager Randy Cornelius following the presentations.

The public doesn’t need to be signed up for OPALCO’s Ambassador Program to participate. Ambassadors are simply co-op members who want to be kept in the know in order to protect their (and their co-op’s) best interests. Refreshments will be served. RSVP to solson@opalco.com or 376-3537.
