The San Juan County Sheriff’s office responded to the following calls.

Dec. 21

• Lopez Island deputies responded to a suspected domestic violence incident on Mud Bay Road. The reporting person said he had heard loud threats of violence coming from an unknown location near his residence. The deputies were unable to locate the involved person(s).

• A deputy responded to a burglary in Eastsound. A report and photos were taken. The case is ongoing.

Dec. 22

• Deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in Friday Harbor. After further investigation, it was found to be a verbal-only conflict and the parties were separated for the evening.

• A Lopez deputy spoke with a citizen regarding a hit-and-run complaint. The reporting person stated an unidentified motorist had struck his unoccupied car while it was parked at the Lopez Village Market on Dec. 21 between 7 and 8 p.m.

• An Orcas Island deputy responded to report of traffic collision that occurred while boarding the ferry in Anacortes.

• A San Juan Island deputy cited a driver for going 67 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.

• Deputies responded to a residence on San Juan Island to investigate a domestic assault. Deputies found an assault had taken place and one subject was taken into custody.

Dec. 23

• A Lopez deputy took a report of broken windows caused by debris blown by a helicopter landing.

• A San Juan Island resident reported she found more missing items from a burglary that happened in January 2016. She was missing more than 20 settings of Grand Baroque silverware. The suspect was arrested and is currently out on bail on the mainland. The investigation is ongoing.

• An Orcas deputy took a report of a commercial burglary in Eastsound. An unknown person (or persons) took $300 dollars. This case is under investigation.

Dec. 24

• At 12:15 a.m. investigated a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence in Friday Harbor. Deputies found the incident was unfounded.

• At 1:55 a.m., a deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed up Spring Street in Friday Harbor. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was given a notice of infraction for speed and for not having a valid driver’s license.

• Lopez deputies responded to a report of a rollover vehicle accident on Fisherman Bay Road. The vehicle, which had left the scene prior to the deputies arriving, was later located unoccupied. An investigation is being conducted.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched for a welfare check on a Lopez woman after an unusual phone call. The subject was found to be safe at home.

• A victim and a witness went to the sheriff’s office to report an assault on San Juan Island. While taking statements, the suspect came in to report these two had been trespassing in his house and he had to force them to leave. After an investigation, the suspect was cited for assault and the trespass investigation continues.

Dec. 25

• A deputy responded to a rollover traffic accident on Cady Mountain Road on San Juan Island. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and hanging by the seat belt. An icy roadway was determined to have been a factor in the accident.

• A Lopez resident reported a found dog on the beach. The dog and owners were reunited.

Dec. 26

• A Lopez Island deputy was sent to check on a person making unusual telephone calls. The subject was found safe and advised not to make any more similar calls.

• Lopez deputies were dispatched for a domestic dispute. A Lopez man was found to have committed assault and criminal harassment and was arrested.

• A Lopez Island deputy was sent to assess a traffic hazard. Two 24-inch round trees had been blown down by the wind, completely blocking the roadway. A public works crew was called to clear the hazard.

• A deputy responded to an Eastsound business regarding an attempted unlawful entry. It was discovered that an unidentified person had attempted to pick a door lock with a lock pick set. No entry had been made but the lock was damaged. The case is under further investigation.

• A Lopez Island deputy was sent to the library for an unwanted person who was refusing to leave. That subject left the premises before the deputy arrived.

Dec. 27

A Lopez Island deputy was called to the ferry landing after a teenage boy refused to board the ferry with the rest of the family, getting out of the car and walking away from the ferry. The boy was returned to his parents by the deputy with a promise of complying with his parents’ wishes.

A Lopez Island deputy was sent to investigate a suspicious vehicle. A local man was found gathering blowdown trees and limbs for firewood. No action was taken at the time, pending contact with the landowner regarding permission.

Dec. 28

Orcas deputies were dispatched from an Eastsound residence in regards to a domestic violence call. Deputies arrived and conducted an initial investigation and a report was completed.
