The San Juan County Department of Community Development will be hosting events to solicit public input on the County’s Comprehensive Plan vision, values, and priorities. The public is encouraged to attend our Pop-Up Studios and Community Workshops. Community input is vital to ensure that the Vision Statement reflects the aspirations of all the residents of San Juan County. These events provide an opportunity for residents to participate in shaping the Comprehensive Plan Vision that will guide the county over the next 20 years. The events will be held at the following times and locations:
On San Juan on Monday, Oct. 2, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is a “Pop-Up Studio” at the Market Place in Friday Harbor. A community workshop will be held at Brickworks from 6–8 p.m.
On Orcas on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is a “Pop-Up Studio” at the Island Market in Eastsound. A community workshop will be held at the Orcas Island High School from 6–8 p.m.
On Lopez on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is a “Pop-Up Studo” at the Lopez Village Market. A community workshop will be held at the Lopez Center from 6–8 p.m.
We will be on hand at each event to engage in conversation with the public about the upcoming update to the Comprehensive Plan. The Pop-Ups will get the discussion started and the Community Workshops will continue the exchange of ideas with more depth. This dialog will provide indispensable information about how the community wants to face new opportunities and challenges in the coming years.
