When are we going to get some street lights in Eastsound? This weekend the Artisan’s Faire at the Odd Fellows Hall was a charming event while the street outside, filled with cars and pedestrians and no sidewalks, was black as a coal bin. It is dangerous. Must we wait until someone is injured or outraged and sues the county for damages before we see some street lights?
All weekend I wrote up sales receipts including county sales taxes. Isn’t Eastsound in San Juan County? It is time the Eastsound sales taxes started to show up in Eastsound. Is this the sort of thing a Chamber of Commerce can undertake? Is there a Chamber of Commerce? Who is in charge in Eastsound, anyone?
My husband says that Eastsound is the Cinderella child of San Juan County. It is time Cinderella got some street lights before someone gets hurt so we can see where we are going.
I know about flashlights but with both hands full they are little help.
The old Eastsound Plan had a picture of a recommended street light. It was a shoe box shape shielding glare and directing light to the ground, not into neighbor’s windows or the night sky. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Growth Management requires urban growth areas like Eastsound to have municipal services: good water, sewer, planning. Eastsound even has architectural design control. How about some light for the dark street?
