A child catching his or her first trout of the season, rain or shine, at 11 a.m. on opening day at Cascade Lake at the 22nd Annual Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby on April 28. A free pancake breakfast at 10 a.m. is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Prizes for every child, age 15 years or younger, who participates. The opportunity to continue supporting a meaningful and fun Orcas Island charitable event.
Bill Yarlott, an 87-year old fishing enthusiast who was instrumental in stocking Cascade Lake with Kokanee Salmon and Rainbow trout, passed away in 2015. His legacy through the annual Bill Yarlott Youth Fishing Derby.
Orcas Adventures is honored to once again host this event fueled by the simple love of fishing.
Organizers are extremely fortunate to have this event co-sponsored with Orcas Outfitters in Eastsound and Kings Marine in Friday Harbor, who both generously donated prizes for the event. A special thanks, also, to Island Market for donating the supplies to make the free pancake breakfast.
This is a community event, and we encourage you to host your immediate family, extended family, friend’s kids, or any child who might want to participate. Celebrate Cascade Lake’s incredible bounty, nature, and a time-honored tradition.
