The Funhouse Commons Board of Directors has appointed Emilie Gincig as the organization’s new executive director. Gincig will replace Maureen Moran, who is transitioning to a position at the Orcas Island School District.

Gincig grew up on Orcas Island. She has extensive nonprofit experience, having worked at Orcas Island Children’s House, Kaleidoscope Preschool, Orcas Island Park and Recreation District and Orcas Center before joining The Funhouse team in January 2013. During her time at The Funhouse, she has served as afterschool program staff, mentor program coordinator, afterschool program director and program director. She says she is thrilled to be stepping into this new leadership position.

The board of directors says Gincig has a “deep understanding of the history and mission of the Funhouse and the community. She is a natural leader, imbued with a passion for positive youth development and social/emotional learning.”

Reflecting on her time at The Funhouse and what the future may hold, Gincig said, “Over the course of my years working at The Funhouse, I’ve been so impressed and proud of our ability to provide genuine and creative ways to make a positive impact on the lives of Orcas Island youth. We have an incredibly committed Funhouse community of Board, staff, volunteers, supporters, nonprofit partners, parents, and kids. I’m honored and excited to be a part of this new chapter.”
