For thousands of years, cultures from all over the world have gathered together to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of the new cycle with the Winter Solstice. It is a time that is not separated by religion, nationality or belief system. It is an honoring of the greater rhythms that encompass all creatures.
On Dec. 20 and 21, Sea Stars (Kurt Baumann and Katie Gray) will once again bring their performance “Return of the Sun” to life. In years past, the production was held at the Orcas Center and The SeaView Theatre, but this year, the intimate and sonic honoring of the winter solstice will be held inside the beauty of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church chapel. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.
Most recently, the two performers were hosted live on the NBC Today radio show on Sirius XM with Hoda Kotb. Gray and Baumann say they are equally excited to bring their original songs to the beloved hometown community of Orcas for this magical occasion.
Tickets are $20 and available online at www.returnofthesun.ticketleap.com/2018.
Tickets can also be purchased at Sequel in Eastsound.
