On May 4 and 5 at the Orcas Center, the Orcas Choral Society will sing Bach’s joyful Mass in F Major and Vivaldi’s beloved “Gloria.”

The concert will have soloists and a full orchestra consisting of both island and Seattle talents.

“This is great music for spring, full of light and life,” said Marianne Lewis, artistic director. “With outstanding soloists, strings, bassoon, oboes, trumpet, French horns and Roger Sherman on the harpsichord, we’ll have a party for the ear and the heart.”

The concert opens at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, and runs again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5.

Also, on Thursday, May 2, Orcas Island’s own Roger Sherman will give a free preconcert talk titled “Bach Meets Vivaldi,” at 4 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Parish Hall at 242 Main St., Eastsound.
