New Brené Brown book group on Orcas

Brené Brown, famous for her popular TED Talk “The Power of Vulnerability,” is a research professor studying courage, vulnerability, trust, shame and empathy. These keys to happiness, resilience and healthy relationships are what she calls wholehearted living.

An Orcas book group will start with her first book, “I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn’t),” and meet weekly on Tuesday from May 21 — July 2 at the old Episcopal Parish Hall from 1–3 p.m. to discuss each chapter and how it applies to our own lives. Group size is limited. To join, call Dr. Alexandra Gayek at 360-376-5484.

Brown’s published six books, including five No. 1 New York Times best-sellers: “The Gifts of Imperfection,” “Daring Greatly,” “Rising Strong,” “Braving the Wilderness” and “Dare to Lead,” plus a brand new Netflix special, “The Call to Courage.” She’s done an Oprah SuperSoul Session and had articles and podcasts published widely. Several of her works are at the Orcas Library. You can learn about Brown and access videos of her talks, podcasts and articles at www.brenebrown.com.
