My name is Ava, and I am a candidate in the race for mayor of Eastsound. I want to share a little bit about myself so that you can get to know me better. I am a very sweet and friendly dog. As mayor I will listen to you and love you unconditionally; I love children and old people—in fact, I love all people. I am honest and trustworthy. I am environmentally conscious and eco-friendly. I am inclusive and nonjudgmental, and I get along equally well with both sides of the aisle-land. I also want to assure you that while I may assist with the blessing of all the animals on St. Francis Day, I strongly believe in separation of church and state. If elected mayor, I will conduct myself with the utmost integrity—except for when it comes to treats. I will agree to, or do, almost anything for a lovely treat, like a cookie, especially a peanut butter one (in case you are wondering what kind of treats I like.)
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in my campaign. Every dollar for every vote goes to support the programs and kids at Orcas Island Children’s House, so please continue to vote. Vote often and vote AVA!
I would also like to invite all of you to an event that I’ll be hosting on the waterfront grounds of historic Emmanuel church on the Fourth of July from 8-10 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket and join me for the fabulous Eastsound fireworks! There will be free ice cream and cookies, and coffee or hot chocolate; and you can meet me before the fireworks begin. Hope to see you there!
