Join the youth representatives of the Coalition for Orcas Youth who will be giving a presentation at the Senior Center on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. about the misuse and abuse of opioid prescription drugs and actionable steps you can take to make a difference.
Then come to the Drug Take-Back Day event, a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of your unused or expired medications. All are welcome to bring any unused medication on Nov. 15 from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Orcas Senior Center flu clinic.
The problem with old prescriptions is two-fold: if flushed or washed down the drain, they pollute the environment; if left in the medicine cabinet, they can fall into the wrong hands. Dropping off unused medications at safe disposal drop-off sites helps keep kids, adults and the environment healthy.
COY’s vision is to foster a community that empowers youth with skills and resources to become compassionate healthy adults. If you’re interested in becoming involved with this important work, or would like to learn more about COY, contact Alison Sanders at alison@orcasprevention.com.
