Orcas Island Lions Club members are preparing for the annual Toys for Tots and Tweens toy dispersal event.

The Toys for Tots Program provides toys for families in need. Parents are allowed to choose a toy and book per child. This year toys will be distributed to parents of Orcas Island children at the Eastsound Fire Hall on Sunday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Last year, the program helped 89 families and 170 children and teens have a merrier Christmas.

“New, unwrapped toys can be donated and dropped off at Ray’s Pharmacy, Radio Shack and <a href="www.windermere.com"Windermere,” says Veronica San Martin, Chair of Toys for Tots. “Anyone wishing to help with monetary donations may send a check, made out to the Orcas Lions Club, to P.O. Box 1212, Eastsound, WA 98245-1212. Cash donations are spent locally.”
