Remembering Harvey | Letter

Harvey Aldort would have loved his memorial; we were moved to tears and to laughter and danced into the night. Thank you, dear Harvey, for leaving behind you the requirement of unstoppable aliveness.

I and our sons are grateful to the community for the support, love and participation.

We felt like a family with you-all. Thank you to all who brought food, and to the many who attended and shared with us the sorrow of Harvey’s departure and the celebration of his life.

We also thank those of you who could not attend and sent your support and loving words in cards, letters and emails.

We shared stories about Harvey in songs, poetry, music, slides, and a film Lennon put together – a compilation of lively moments of Harvey’s fathering years with the children. It amazed me how all of you who attended laughed as much as we did and in the same spots in the film. You knew Harvey enough to appreciate the extravagant and passionate nature of his ways with children and with life.

Special gratitude to the Odd Fellows for the hall and equipment; to Eth-Noh-Tec, Nancy and Robert, for acting the story “Dirt Ball” that Harvey loved so much; to Charlie for being the DJ till midnight; to Mohamed from Seattle, who had to cancel his attendance due to an emergency yet found a way to send his large food contribution; and to all of you for the hugs, laughter, and for being a family. With gratitude to the community,

The Aldort Family
