As of 6 p.m., April 9, San Juan County is reporting there are 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the islands. There are a total of seven cases on Orcas Island; four on San Juan; and one on Lopez.
The county reported that as of April 6, it would no longer be reporting pending test results and would only report total tests performed and confirmed results. Washington Department of Health had previously been providing that information, according to the county website, but will no longer b doing so.
“Gathering that information direct from providers would put an undue strain on provider offices. Focus will be on total tests and confirmed positives,” said an update on the county’s website. “Note that test result turn around time from labs has been steadily improving and we expect that trend to continue.”
