I am writing this letter in opposition of the Park and Rec District Levy.
If you say “ it’s only going to be like $40 a year,” fine. Strike up a donations box and put your money in the coffer. I’ll gladly pledge that amount. But we can’t expect, or force, Grandma with a bad hip to pay for our recreation. To me this sounds like a socialist approach.
With the inflation of the housing market, many homeowners have land that could possibly never sell for what it is assessed at. Therefore I think it is unreasonable to ask for even the crumbs of a pie that doesn’t exist.
As a small community we must be a little more creative, and I hate to say it, a little more conservative, as we address these upcoming economical issues.
Thank you.
