The First Night! Concerts
Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m.
The First Night! program features Anna Polonsky in the Bach’s “Keyboard Concerto,” Chee-Yun playing the romantic Franck “Sonata,” accompanied by Jon Kimura Parker on piano. Heidi Lehwalder, joined by flutist Karla Flygare and violist Aloysia Friedmann, plays the impressionistic Debussy Trio. Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet, composed late in his life, will feature Frank Kowalsky.
A Kaleidoscope of Color

Saturday, Aug. 23 at 5 p.m.
The Kaleidoscope of Color will feature Heidi Lehwalder in Salzedo’s “Scintillation” for harp. Lehwalder will join the string quartet made up of Andrés Cárdenes and Monique Mead on violin, Alsia Friedmann on viola and Page Smith on cello, flute and clarinet for Ravel’s “Introduction and Allegro;” Cárdenes is featured an De Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole, accompanied by Jon Kimura Parker. Paul Schoenfield’s jazzy, “Café Music,” performed by Parker and Chun Yee with Anne Martindale Williams on Cello, will conclude the evening’s music.

Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 5 p.m.
The Miró Quartet will play Beethoven’s “String Quartet in C minor,” the American composer Charles Ives’ “String Quartet No. 1 From the Salvation Army,” and will join pianist Jon Kimura Parker in the Dvorak “Quintet for Piano and Strings in A Major.”
Fantasy and Finale!

Saturday, Aug. 30 at 5 p.m.
At the final series of concerts, the Miró Quartet will perform Mozart’s “Hoffmeister” string quartet, and Shostakovich’s “Prelude and Scherzo for String Octet,” joined by Anne Martindale Wlliams on cello, David Harding on viola, Aloysia Friedmann and Monique Mead on violin.
The second portion of the program will be Chausson’s “Concerto in D Major” for violin, piano and string quartet, with musicians Andrés Cárdenes on solo violin, Jon Kimura Parker on solo piano, Chee-Yun and Monique Mead on violin, Aloysia Friedmann on viola, and Anne Martindale Williams on cello.
