With great joy, Emmanuel Episcopal Parish announces the return of its annual Market Day sale, Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Parish Church, 242 Main St., Eastsound.
From golf clubs to garden tools, artworks to antiques, Market Day offers all sorts of great finds. Come and get them!
“We have so much fun putting on this event, and it helps the whole island,” said Rector Berto Gandara-Perea. “Our 2019 sale produced $6,000 for Orcas community programs. We’re so glad to be able now to bring it back.”
Market Day began in 1940, when the women’s group of Emmanuel Parish, the St. Agnes Guild, held a rummage sale to help the church obtain a much-needed new roof. Since then, St. Agnes Guild has held Market Day each year – except 2020, when the pandemic precluded it. In recent years, the sale has supported Orcas Island non-profits as well repairs to the church buildings, which are widely used by the island community.
“2020 would have been our 80th year,” said Joanne Cundy, St. Agnes Guild president. “Now, we’re 80+! We’re so thrilled to be open again and back serving Orcas Island.”
This year, Market Day will feature Christmas decorations.
“Our parishioners have some beautiful ornaments they’re ready to pass along to new families,” Cundy said. “And we’ll have a special section of collectibles and fine wares. It’s a treasure hunt!”
