I feel compelled to give praise to a local journalist. I greatly enjoyed reading an article in the June 23 Islands’ Sounder entitled “Orcas Little League Wins Big,” which told about a baseball and softball tournament comprised of teams of youngsters from the islands.

The story grabbed my attention from the outset. I found myself becoming fully engrossed in the unfolding drama of the competition. The story was building to a climax when I found the article ending on page three and continuing on page six. I quickly thumbed to page six where I was rewarded with the perfect ending as carried out by the “perfect” lineup. I have been reading sports stories for over 50 years and I found this short sports story to be very entertaining.

My biggest surprise came at the bottom of the story where credit was given to a Mr. Christian Bailey, 11 years old! A job well done, Master Bailey. I look forward to your future contributions.
