In January 2022, Linda Prades passed away peacefully in Washougal, WA with family by her side. She was 80 years old.
Linda is survived by her children Jim (Jana) and Michele (Kevin), grandson Gabriel, and grand dogs Duke and Baker. She is preceded in death by her father Gene Russum, mother Esther, step father Guy Edwards, sisters Barbara and Sally, and brother Robert.
Linda was born in July 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska, she grew up in Shenandoah National Park, graduated from University of Maryland, and then made her way west to San Francisco living out her 20s with a bunch of single ladies at the bottom of Lombard St. Linda fell in love with Orcas Island in the early 70’s and moved with her then husband and young son Jim. Michele was born shortly after arriving on Orcas. Linda had a 25-year career in the United States Postal Service with most of that time serving as the Postmaster of the Orcas (98280) post office. Linda raised Jim and Michele with the same kindness she showed her island friends and patrons of the post office. After a long and joyful career and time on Orcas Linda retired to Texas to become a sorority house mom. After a few years of the Texas heat Linda returned to Vancouver, Wa where she made a new home. Linda was known and loved by many and always had a kind and encouraging smile, she will be greatly missed.
