Call for Auditions for The Cake, written by Bekah Brunstetter, directed by Melinda Milligan at the Orcas Center Black Box, Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7 from 6-8pm. Performances will be at Orcas Center September 15-24, 2022 (7 shows).

About the play: Della the baker makes cakes, not judgement calls- those she leaves to her husband, Tim. But when the young woman she helped raise comes back home to North Carolina to get married, and the fiance is actually a fiancee, Della’s life gets turned upside down. She can’t really make a cake for such a wedding, can she? For the first time in her life, Della has to think for herself.

Jen- female, 20’s-30’s, has dreamt of her wedding day her entire life, white

Macy- female, 20’s-30’s, her skeptical fiancee, a woman of color

George- VOICE only- the voice of a British baking show judge
