Since Jan. 12, the San Juan County Community Development and Planning Department (CD&P) began accepting applications for Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) permits to be issued in 2009.

A total of 14 Permits will be available for the construction of new ADU structures in 2009. An additional three permits will be available for the conversion of existing accessory structures that have existed legally for at least five years to an ADU. This year’s ADU permit lottery will take place on February 20.

All ADU lottery applications must be submitted on the CD&P ADU lottery application form by Feb. 6. The form is available on the San Juan County website or can be provided by CD&P.
