Interview with Shandra Augenstein of Doe Bay Resort and Retreat.

What is your position at Doe Bay and how long have you been there?

I am the Doe Bay Events and Spa Coordinator. I also work at the Front Desk. I joined the crew here in the fall of 2010. 13 years later, I love my job more than ever!

What is your background and what drew you to DB?

My husband and I were involved in seasonal retreat center management from 1999-2010. We loved the feel of Doe Bay, from the location to the spa amenities, to the wonderful food in the Café. Being a part of the team here in the early 2010’s was a lot of fun and full of new experiences as we took on large wedding events and the music festivals.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the interface I have with the guests at the Front Desk. Most people are so happy to be at Doe Bay and I am happy to share the magic with them. I love inquiring how they found out about us if they are first time guests. Most of the time the answer is, “A friend in Seattle loves it here and told me I should come check it out!”

What is something about yourself that would surprise people?

I read aloud to my 12 year old daughter every night and we have completed many novels and series together. Although, she is much better at voice acting than I am!
