The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls.

Nov. 1

• San Juan deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident at the ferry landing. The incident turned out to be verbal only and both parties were separated and allowed to calm down.

• A deputy on San Juan responded to a report of fraudulent activity. The investigation is ongoing.

• A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a parking problem. The owners were contacted, and the incident was documented.

• On Orcas, a deputy issued a citation for littering and an abandoned vehicle.

Nov. 2

• A deputy was contacted about threats on San Juan. The person stated they had received phone calls from someone who does not live in the county threatening to repossess an item.

• A Lopez deputy responded when a vehicle on a ferry bumped into a ferry worker, ran over a cone, and sped onto Lopez Island. The matter is under investigation.

• A law enforcement contact on Orcas led to the arrest of a person for driving under the influence. A drug recognition expert evaluation was completed and the subject was booked into San Juan County Jail.

• A deputy on Orcas received some found property. The owner was not able to be located and the property was booked into evidence for safekeeping.

Nov. 3

• Deputies from Orcas responded to a CPR in-progress call on the water south of Waldron Island. The victim did not survive.

• Adriver was seen passing in a no-passing zone and a San Juan deputy made a traffic stop. The driver was arrested and then released with a citation for driving with a suspended or revoked license-3rd degree.

• An agency on San Juan requested a person be picked up for an evaluation. Deputies contacted the person, who was then transported to the ER for evaluation.

• A deputy responded to a report of attempted shoplifting at a local grocery store on San Juan. The suspect was identified and served with a trespass later.

• A San Juan resident was issued a criminal citation for driving with a suspended license-2nd degree, along with citations for not having vehicle insurance and marijuana inside a vehicle.

• A Lopez deputy responded to a deceased animal call. The matter is under investigation.

Nov. 4

• A deputy on Orcas responded to an unwanted person call. While en route, the suspect was seen driving away from the scene. The deputy made contact with the individual, who was found to be impaired, arrested for driving under the influence, and booked into San Juan County Jail.

• A Lopez deputy responded when an individual experiencing a health crisis threw a chair through a glass door. The individual made self-harming comments, was taken into custody, and transported to the hospital.

• A deputy was dispatched to a welfare check in the Friday Harbor area. The person who was checked on was found to be deceased.

• A Lopez resident reported damage to their lawn and a sign after an unknown vehicle failed to make a turn on Port Stanley Road.

• Deputies responded to a report of crab pots that were interfering with the operations of WSF into the Orcas Ferry Terminal. A marine response was conducted and the commercial crab pots were removed.

• A deputy on San Juan stopped the driver of a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was issued citations for failing to stop at a stop sign, not having a valid operator’s license with ID, and an expired registration for more than 2 months.

• A Lopez deputy responded when an upset individual broke a window in their house.

Nov. 5

• Deputies on San Juan responded to a report of several men who appeared intoxicated and attempting to enter motor vehicles on First Street, next to the courthouse. When deputies arrived on the scene, they observed a male enter a red sedan parked near The Grange on First Street.

Nov. 6

• A deputy on Orcas responded to a welfare check involving a juvenile who was missing from his home. An extensive search effort commenced, and the missing person was later located in Seattle.

• An investigation of a DUI resulted in the arrest of a Friday Harbor man. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where a court-ordered blood draw was performed by EMS and he was subsequently booked into jail pending a hearing with a judge.

• Deputies on San Juan investigated a report of an assault. After speaking with the involved parties, there was insufficient evidence to believe that a crime had been committed.

• A misguided landlord dumped a former tenant’s belongings at an unacceptable location on Lopez Island.

Nov. 7

• A Lopez Island deputy stopped the driver of a vehicle on Fisherman Bay Road. The driver was subsequently issued a citation for speeding 45 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.
