A sure sign of summer, Brown Bag Concerts begin Wednesday, July 7 at noon at Emmanuel Episcopal church. The performance will feature the Bodalo Trio, a popular group that has been performing for several years. The trio includes Bob Littlewood on clarinet, Dale Heisinger on cello, and Louellen McCoy on piano, all long-time Orcas residents. They will perform Rumanische Melodie by Max Bruch and Trio VII in E flat major by Mozart. Heisinger and Littlewood both play with the Island Sinfonia, and McCoy was the Orcas Choral Society’s pianist for many years.
On Wednesday, July 14, organist Marianne Lewis will perform a variety of classical baroque music by German, French, and Italian composers. The program includes Fantasy and Fugue in C Minor by Bach and Prelude and Fugue in F# Minor by Buxtehude. Lewis performs regularly in Seattle and on Orcas, most recently with the Orcas A Cappella concert, featuring works by Ralph Vaughan Williams. She is currently the organist and choir director at Emmanuel Episcopal Parish.
All concerts begin at 12 noon and end at 12:30 p.m. The audience is encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch to eat on the lawn following the concert. Concerts are free; however, donations support an annual scholarship to send music students to summer music camp.
